Durango Guitar Works

After a day of recording, I dared to go out into the world where other actual humans interact. And there, in the produce aisle of a local grocery store, I bumped into my friend Jimmy Carabbia, founder and owner of Durango Guitar Works.

Jimmy is one of those guys who is so incredibly positive and friendly that it’s downright impossible not to start grinning from ear to ear whenever I see him.

I knew that he’d already broken into the international market and was causing quite a stir with his Contender custom short scale guitar. But what I didn’t know was that he’s actually winding his own pickups now!

And right there in the produce aisle, with people reaching past us to get at the jalapenos, we’re talking ninety miles a minute about Jason Lollar, Seymour Duncan, how many WPB (windings per bobbin) and achieving The Sound.

Big things are happening for Jimmy. But he’s still got time to st0p and say hello. Jimmy, I salute you!

I’m honored to know Jimmy, and after playing one of his custom short scale guitars, I know for a fact they’re amazing. (They play like butter, and they DON’T cost an arm and a leg! Which is RARE these days!) Can’t wait to get my own. (Latest model is a double humbucker telecaster model.)
